My novel, THE KING OF SILK, grew from an idea I had been mulling for some time: what knowledge we each possess could we transfer to another culture or another time? And what would be the consequences? So, here you have a historical novel which explores those ideas from the viewpoint of a modern businessman snatched away to 15th century Italy.
I like the historical fiction genre, but my current work in progress lies in the paranormal realm. I've heard folks say they write for markets which are hot. But with long lead times in the publishing biz, you never know what's going to be hot when your product is released. I figure you just have to go where the story leads you.

I agree, Joe. I also write where my muse takes me. Of course, it's usually romance of some sort. Congratulations on your upcoming book.
The King of Silk sounds like a fabulous story. Congrats on its forthcoming release, Joe!
I love time travel historicals. It's on my TBR list.
Thanks, all. The Muse bunch has produced a lot of good reading, and more to come.
Joe, I loved reading The King of Silk. I'm looking forward to seeing your next one.
This one might involve a long haul, Penny. I'm still doing research. I've made one trip to an Indian reservation in Nevada and am going back in a few weeks. I really need to get started on the writing part. This is the fun part!
Joe, guess it's a good thing you like research!
