I wrote my first book at age three in magenta crayon on green-bar paper ("The Creechur," a literary masterpiece which I intend to keep to myself) and finished my first novel at age thirteen. My first published novel was The Guardian (Thomas Nelson Press) under the name Jane Hamilton. Following that were Seven Archangels: Annihilation (Double-Edged Publishing) and The Boys Upstairs (MuseItUp). If you saw "A Rock For Christmas" on this weblog, that was me. I've also published short stories about Satan's employment problems, a law student who keeps looking for work even after he dies, what happens when the wrong angel gets assigned as a guardian (very, very wrong -- Nezeq's a demon) and what happens when God institutes self-esteem protocol on an eternal scale. (As it turned out, tossing sinners into Hell was seriously damaging their self-esteem.)
Oh, and did I mention I'm a wiseacre?
The Boys Upstairs is a novel about brothers revisiting the emotions keeping them apart in order to save three homeless children.
At my weblog, I document what happens when a distracted daydreamer and a gamer geek attempt to raise four children. I also blog for QueryTracker, where we guide writers toward improving their craft and through the process of querying.

Welcome to Muse, Jane. And congratulations on your upcoming books.
I like the humor in your writing, Jane!
Jane's a hoot. I have to admit at first I wasn't sure if The Boys Upstairs would suit my taste in the genres I read, dark fiction/paranormal/YA, but was totally wowed and captivated by the book. Nothing like what I was expecting. Characters are strong, teens have issues I could relate to, no preaching, humor and drama...amazing story by a gifted author.
Hi Jane! Fancy meeting you here. I'm happy we're sister authors at MIU.
Hi Jane, you've been busy and you certain seem to have quite the imagination. Best of luck.
Hi, guys! Thanks for reading and commenting. :-)
Lea, there's plenty of dark stuff in TBU. Death, theft, bullying, abandonment, alcoholism--it seems less dark because the characters never let all that darkness eat them alive.
Pat, thanks! Satire is my favorite genre, and the humor has to come out in everything or else we'd end up screaming, and that's no fun. :-)
Thanks again, and I hope you enjoy the stories!
Inhuman Resources is one of my favorite pieces of your work...it's that sly humor again! LOL!
Hi Jane! I loved The Boys Upstairs!
Hey, Soraya! Good to see you here. :-) That story had me laughing to tears even before I wrote it, so there was no question--it had to get written.
And thanks, Deb! I had so much fun writing it that I'm thrilled when other people had fun reading it. :-)
Jane great post. What a day it will be when the angels talk back. Imagine the material for your novels then. Thanks for sharing. Your work sounds intriguing.
I dunno -- after what I did to him in Seven Archangels: Annihilation, I strongly suspect the Archangel Gabriel will want me cleaning out his basement for two hundred years or so. 0.o
