Hooray for Muse and Murder in the Buff

 By Maggie Toussaint

I’m so pleased to have my latest mystery come out through Muse It Up Publishing. Murder in the Buff is a little different from your conventional mystery because the dead woman is a naturalist.

If you’re thinking naturalist means something scientific and stodgy, let me caution you that it means people with no clothes on. That very lack of attire is a huge challenge for my amateur sleuth, reporter Molly Darter, who is a dyed-in-the-wool Episcopalian. She doesn’t even like to look at her own naked body in the mirror.

Ordinarily, she would say “no thanks” to this particular story assignment, but she’s just kicked her cheating husband out the door, and her boss is threatening replace her with a friend from college. Yikes! She swallows her nerve and her pride to get the job done.

Except, the nudists claim their friend didn’t die of natural causes. Instead, they insist she was murdered, and they pressure Molly to investigate. She plans to ignore their claim, until some racy photographs come her way. Soon she’s crawling in suspects.

Murder In The Buff was an absolute dream to write. I have many favorite characters from the story who make me laugh: Molly of course, desperate Hadley, too-smart-for-his-britches Jimbo, Goldie the lab who doubles as a cabana boy, the nudists, and Joe Dog who gets bamboozled by females.

Thank you, Lea for taking a chance on this story and for allowing me to share it with mystery lovers. And thanks to Muse cover artist, Nika Dixon, for the coolest cover ever.

Murder in the Buff is available now. Hot diggity dog! Use this link to access the Muse store, read the blurb, and read an excerpt:  Muse It Up Publishing

Classic Maggie Toussaint. I read the excerpt on the other link--excellent. You do know how to write Southern, and you do know how to hook a reader. Congratulations, and many best wishes for its success!

Well you hooked me, Maggie. Will rush off to Muse Bookstore right now to grab this one. My fellow Muse authors are sending me broke--
but what a way to go. :)

Great post Maggie.. sounds like a great read. The characters you describe are enough of a hook but the premise for this murder mystery has me chuckling. Another must read.
