Jei Rivera spends his life day-by-day involved as a fighter in the
underground clubs of Manila, Philippines. For as long as he can
remember, he’s had nothing to live for, but no reason to die. That’s
until he meets a familiar face: Malaya, an aswang from the southern
region of Mindanao who claims Jei is a missing part of a crucial war
among these shapeshifting Filipino vampires. Jei, hoping to reawaken the
abilities Malaya says he has, sets off on a journey south to Mindanao
with Malaya and the last survivor of the mantahungal clan, all the while
dodging segbin warriors who are now set on taking Jei prisoner. But
with the voice in Jei’s head forever taunting him as they draw nearer
and nearer to Butuan where the manduruko clan’s base is, Jei begins to
slowly realize that not all is as it seems.
